Artistic Director
Randy Spitzer is a graduate of Pacific
Lutheran University (PLU.) While at PLU, Mr. Spitzer was a frequent
performer in musical and children’s theater, sang in the
Choir of the West and studied
conducting under Dr. Maurice Skones. During the last two of his four years in
the choir, Randy was section leader, soloist and choir president.
The son of a choral conductor, at the age of twelve Randy was given his first
opportunity to conduct the school orchestra at his sixth grade graduation
ceremony. Randy accepted his first paid conducting position in 1972 as a
church choir director in nearby Puyallup, Washington while still a student at
PLU. Since that time, Mr. Spitzer has remained an active church musician,
serving as soloist, liturgist and choir director for a number of congregations
in the Pacific Northwest. From 1974 to 1983 Randy taught public school choral music in Federal Way, Colville and Spokane, Washington. While doing so, he served as President of the Eastern Washington Music Educators Association and Vice President of Washington Music Educators Association. For more than thirty years, Mr. Spitzer has also been a featured baritone soloist with various choirs (including Cora Voce), orchestras, opera companies and musical theater groups. He served as the chairman of the board of directors of Cora Voce from 2003 until 2006. In the fall of 2006 he was named the artistic director. Randy Spitzer is President of and Senior Fellow at LCI. He was a curriculum development consultant and trainer with Anheuser Busch Inc., wrote and helped implement leadership development programs for Pepsi-Cola and TCI (now Comcast) and earned the Certified Financial Planner designation while he was the chairman of Century Financial Services of Western Washington. Mr. Spitzer is a prolific author and lecturer. His most recent book is Take Responsibility – how the best organizations in the world survive in a down economy and thrive when times are good (Select Books, NY.) He is also a regular contributor to Leadership Excellence and Quality Participation magazines.
Danete O'NealAccompanist/Pianist A highly regarded pianist who accompanies vocalists, instrumentalists and choirs extensively throughout the Puget Sound region, she is also currently the accompanist and organist at Normandy Park Congregational Church in Des Moines. A native of Washington, Danete began playing the piano at age five. She graduated from Western Washington University with a Bachelor's of Music degree in Piano Performance. At the University, she studied piano with Ford Hill and vocal and instrumental instruction with Dr. Robert Scandrett and Dr. Mary Terry Smith. She also served as organist, accompanist, and bell choir director for the First Presbyterian Church in Bellingham, and was guest pianist and accompanist for the New Whatcom Choral Society. In the past many years, her accompanist credits have ranged far and wide. They include accompanying the Gilbert & Sullivan Society in Thurston County, serving as guest pianist/accompanist for the Samish Music Festival, frequently accompanying soloists and instrumentalists for Music Educators National Conferences, as guest soloist and accompanist for several chapters of the Washington State Music Teachers Association as well as many other performing artists and organizations. Danete has been accompanist for The Boeing Employees Choir since 1992 and has traveled with the choir on several international tours and is featured on their CD recordings. She is employed at The Boeing Company where she is an engineering analyst. When not at the keyboard, she enjoys traveling, outdoor adventures, and spending time with her family.
